Emran Hasmi- The Serial Kisser, Emran Hasmi- The Hit Machine

Emran Hasmi is a hit machine. He has delevered so many hits that is beyond reach of many of his more fancied or over-rated opponents. He became well known after the film Murder which was a smash hit. After that, he has delevered hits like Aashique Banaya Apne, Gangstar, Kalyug, Jannat and Raaz 2. His latest film Tum Mile may not be that successful in the box office but it has got critical acclaim. With so many hits to his credit, he could easily be a superstar, but he never comes into comparison with heros like Shahid or Ranbir Kapoors.
What might be the cause of such discrepancy:
* He is not the son/nephew of any big gun of Bollywood.
* He dosen't got a godfather.
* He maintains a relatively low profile.
* He dosen't get a chance in big productions of bollywood( like Dharma or Yash-raj), neither he is being casted against big heroines.
Against all odds, Emran Hasmi is going strong. He has got some fame for completely wrong reason( The Serial Kisser). We hope he will get his recognition in due time.

Gautam Gambhir- The Batting Sensation of India

Gamtam Gambhir is the latest batting sensation of India. He was the ICC Test batsman of the year 0f 2009. He used to score consistantly and prolifically for India in all the three formats of the game. He was the highest scorer for India in 2007 T20 World Cup and he is winning matches in India in one day matches also. He was dropped from the India squad in 2007 world cup and that was the turning point of his carrer. He was devastated and thought to quit cricket forever. In stead, he came back with a vengance and with a point to prove. In 2009. he was at the top of his carrer and batted like a superman. He scored 5 consequitive test hundred and just fell short one century to equal the feat of Sir Donald Bradman. However, he equalled the record of Vivian Richards of scoring consiquitive 11 test fifty. What a batsman he is! We just hope that he keeps playing jike this.

Atomic Energy- Our Future Depends on It, Nuclear Energy- The Solution for Energy Requirement

Nuclear Energy is the need of present world. Nuclear power plants can generate huge amount of energy and therefore can solve our energy crisis without causing much environmental pollution. Fossil fuel( oil, coal and natural gas) supplies 86% of the energy requirement of the world. This source of energy, once used is lost forever and use of these energy cause emission of green house gases leading to environmental pollution. Other sources of energy like hydro-electricity, biomass and biofuels, wind power, solar power and zio-thermal powers are limited. India is in the sixth position in the world regarding production of these alternative source of energy. In nuclear energy, there is a huge possibility to meet our energy requirement.

What is the advantage of nuclear energy:

* Safety Records of Nuclear Power Corporation saying that nuclear energy is the cleanest of all.

* It does not pollute the world with green house gas emission.

* Initial cost to set a power plant is high, but the recurrent cost is much less. And the energy source is unlimited.

* Oil , coal and natural gases are bound to be finished in next 100-200 yrs, so it is the only logical solution to meet our energy demand.
India has half a dozen nuclear power plants (Kalpakkam, Tarapur, Kudankulam, Kaiga and in Rajasthn), but certainly we need more!

Effect of Global Warming and Climate Change on Kolkata, Disaster Awaiting for Kolkata due to Climate Change

The area of the Greater Kolkata is 1460 sq. km. Its population is more than 1.5 crores. Area wise, it is 1.6% of West Bengal but 19% of the total population of West Bengal lives in this city. According to a report of World Wide Fund(WWF) , Kolkata and its surrounding area is facing a grave danger. Kolkata is being lowered by 2 mm every year and the Ganges River Basin and Hooghly Delta is being lowered by 0.6-1.9 mm. If this trend continues, Kolkata and its surrounding area will be under water in coming years. The main culprit is the withdrawal of huge amount of underground water in Kolkata and its subarbs. As a result, water level is being lowered dangerously. It not only increases the chance of draught, but the possibility of invasion of salty water is also on the rise. The worst aspect is the disaster management planning and infrastructure of Kolkata is very poor. Deforestation of mangrove in Sundarban is adding concern as mangrove forest is one of the natural means to protect against cyclone or tsunami.
Are there minimum awareness amongst the citizens regarding the grave danger? The picture is not at all encouraging!
