Is Cricket is Loosing Its Charm, Too Much Cricket-is It Good For The Game

Too much cricket is going on around the globe these days. It raises a question on the future of the game. In the initial days of the game, there was only test cricket. Then in the seventies, Cary Packer brought his unique contribution- one day cricket. The pundits called it 'Paijama Cricket' in those days. Over the next 25 years, test cricket and one day cricket stays side by side, though one day cricket gained more popularity and attracted more crowd. In the last 4-5 years, came 20-20 cricket. First T-20 world cup was very much successful. Then came Lalit Modi with his IPL. First IPL in 2008 was an instant hit and created a lot of sensation all over the world, not to talk of India. But things have changed a bit. T-20 world cup in 2009 is not as popular as it was in 2007. IPL-2 which took place in South Africa due to election in India, was not as popular as its earlier counterpart. The overall scene is not exactly spectacular and it send a shock wave among the ICC and others concerned with the game. Are they killing the game to extract more profit like that of the provervial duck who used to give gold eggs!
